Rigby in the Community 50 YEARS OF GIVING BACK

From landmark projects to local initiatives, your hard work contributes towards making a difference in every community we are part of.

For Sir Peter Rigby, success was never just about building a business - it was about building a better future.

That spirit has run through Rigby Group for all of our 50 years. Since 1992, the success built by the efforts of every Rigby Group employee has contributed to a huge range of deserving causes, through the Rigby Foundation. Lives and communities have been transformed -

from cutting-edge medical care at Birmingham Children’s Hospital to helping unemployed young people into work, the message is clear: when Rigby gives, it changes lives.

Increasingly, this isn’t just a family story - it’s yours too. Whether through volunteering, mentoring or sharing skills, colleagues across the Group are extending that legacy. It all plays a part in ensuring that our philanthropy continues to change lives not just with funding but with vision, leadership, and long-term commitment.

More than ever, Rigby Group’s philanthropy extends beyond the UK. For example, SCC France became one of the first donors towards the restoration of Notre Dame cathedral in France, while local teams in Romania and France have partnered with colleges and schools to help with digital and environmental projects, and colleagues in Spain directly helping flood victims in Valencia.

Inspiring Futures

This year marks the launch of Inspiring Futures, the Foundation’s innovative £3 million social mobility programme. Working with 10 education partners and 10 specialist charities, it will support over 1,000 young people each year across the West Midlands. From tutoring and mentoring to career workshops, the goal is simple but powerful - raise aspirations, close opportunity gaps, and help young people achieve dreams that once felt out of reach.

Colleagues Making a Difference

The Foundation’s impact isn’t only financial. Increasingly, colleagues across the Group are rolling up their sleeves to share skills and time:

  • Generation UK (January): SCC colleagues shared career insights with 20 local unemployed young people, helping them with their CV’s and interview preparation and inspiring them to think bigger about what’s possible.
  • Finance Careers Day (July): Julie Mortimer and the Group Finance team welcomed 30 Ark Boulton Academy students to SCC HQ. The day ended with a “Dragon’s Den” challenge, showing how finance can shape futures.
  • Rigby Capital: Exploring new ways to back staff-led volunteering initiatives.

These activities are what the Foundation is all about. “It’s not just about funding projects,” says James Rigby. “It’s about colleagues using their skills and experience to create the best outcomes for those we support.”

How You Can Get Involved

This anniversary year is about celebrating together - and giving together. From mentoring young people to supporting local food banks, there are plenty of ways to contribute. Keep an eye on divisional updates for opportunities near you, or speak to your line manager team to find out how you can volunteer.

A Lasting Legacy

For half a century, Rigby Group’s philanthropic initiatives have been enhanced by teams and individual efforts across the business, to reach hospitals, schools, charities, and communities across the UK and beyond. Now, through new initiatives and hands-on volunteering, colleagues have the chance to carry that legacy forward.

This year, you can be part of what comes next. Just ask your line manager to learn how you can help change lives in your community.
